Bluffing The Bluffer

Everyone who has been playing poker for a while knows a player who bluffs all the time. You know who he is. The guy who is a total action junkie, the one who will play and raise with any two cards, the guy who just goes nuts and you look at him and think, “what are you doing?” Playing against someone who plays so aggressively and insanely can be very unnerving and quite challenging. One of the biggest problems faced by someone trying to play against this sort of player is the fact that the style of play is so different from how most everyone else plays that it can be hard to know what to do.

Fortunately, there are a number of things that you can do to help turn the tide in your favor. The first thing that you have to do is not be frightened by the way he plays. You know that he will play any two cards so take that into account when you have a good hand. If your cards are good, push your chips around, make him pay to see the cards. Nothing scares an ultra aggressive player more than another ultra aggressive player. Another great thing that you can do is to counter his bluff with a bluff of your own. If he raises, re raise over the top of him with absolutely nothing. After he folds, show in your cards. By showing your cards you will shake him mentally and that can give you the advantage you need.
